The thesis seeks to answer to what extent the Dodge Commission covered up incompetence, or if it led to reform in the command structure of the American military.

Dissertation

"Confluence of Conflict: Houston, Race, and the Camp Logan Mutiny of 1917." This dissertation examines the convergence of thegrowth of Houston, its economic growth, and racial order along with the United States Army’s decision to place a segregated unit of African American soldiers in Houston, with the U.S.’s involvement in World War I as a backdrop. This dissertation will add a useful new analysis to the considerable literature on race, on World War I, and Black protest by examining what influence foreign policy concerns have on domestic agendas, as well as the role of violence in the attainment of civil rights more generally
